Yellow Water

I stayed at Cooinda Lodge for my Yellow Water Experience. Yellow Water is a huge wetland which is a haven for water birds. Hence lots of different cruises throughout the day. I went on a noon cruise and then a sunset cruise. Saw my first crocs in the wild. The wetlands were starting to dry out but the huge flocks of birds had yet to arrive. However, there were still plenty of birds to see. Egrets are common wetland birds (had lots of the small ones in Clybucca) but they always look so elegant.

I loved the paperbark trees. They are one of the few trees that can withstand the innundation of the Wet and have quite amazing survival mechanisms. They are also very useful trees for the Aboriginal people because the bark is light and waterproof.
