Saturday @ Nitmiluk

Must get to see this Katherine Gorge one day. I went on a Gorge cruise sometime in the 80s as part of a conference in Darwin but haven't been back since I've been here in Katherine. This is the Katherine River and I went to see amateur dragon boat races but loved the glorious red winged parrot. (This must be a female because there were others with much more red but they wouldn't oblige with an in-focus photo). The wattle was out in force and there were lots of bower birds scavenging in the camping grounds. They were after campers' scraps but they also steal coloured, especially plastic, objects to decorate their bowers.
