Mobilised Students' Memorial

Younger school students had been evacuated to the country because of air strikes on Hiroshima during World War 2 but older students were mobilised for the war effort. They were set to work creating fire breaks by demolishing wooden buildings in the centre of Hiroshima. A large number of the initial casualties from the A-bomb were these mobilised students.
