Flying Fox 1

I went to a Parks & Wildlife talk as part of the Flying Fox Festival. We gathered on the old railway bridge over the Katherine River just on dark. After the ranger talk, we watched thousands of flying foxes leave their daytime roosting trees and fly along the river to search for food. Most of them were these black flying foxes but there are also little red flying foxes which are smaller and have almost transparent wings. There are lots of flying foxes around Katherine at the moment and their management is causing concern because they are very noisy and very smelly. Also their droppings take the paint off cars.
