Beswick Falls

What a glorious place! And what an adventure getting there and back! Nine tourists and I decided to travel the easy way and booked transport through the tourist bureau. The deal was a ride in a school bus for the 100-odd kilometres to Beswick and then transport by four wheel drive along the 15 km track to the falls (& of course, the return trip). The first leg of our journey went perfectly well but no 4X4 materialised at the turnoff. From there on, the transport consisted of gettng a ride with anyone who happened along who had a spare seat or two.

At the end of the night, six of us eventually ended up back at Beswick where we found the bus but no driver. We wrote a note for the driver and hitched a ride with an unknown man going back to Katherine. I then drove one couple from the tourist bureau in Katherine to Springvale Homestead Camping Ground. I knew where that was, even in the dark, but I had to dodge quite a few wallabies along the way.

A few people didn't believe the Beswick Falls track was 4X4 only but they didn't get very far. It was really not meant for normal cars and definitely not for campervans! So again I played Leyland Brothers but the dust was so thick that I didn't see much of the track.
